Four years ago I was hired by the National Gallery of Canada to design 3 artificial flower arrangements that reflected three paintings of Vincent van Gogh. This exercise of copying a painting—to create an arrangement that would have mirrored a fresh arrangement van Gogh would have looked at while painting his masterpieces—was unique and amazing. Visitors to the exhibit could then sit down at iPads and sketch a design using my arrangement for inspiration. It was an honour to be asked by The National Gallery of Canada to be part of the van Gogh exhibit and to be part of the interactive part that visitors would then be inspired to sketch. Sadly, I only have one grainy photo to show, and three photos of the painting I also designed. Photos were not really permitted but I had to sneak a few because this honour still blows me away.
